GTA 6 boxed pre-orders run dry at US retailers - Amazon pauses, Target empties in LA and NYC
Per RockstarINTEL, as of October 11 neither the PS5 nor the Xbox Series X|S code-in-a-box copy could be pre-ordered on Amazon US, and many Target stores in dense US areas — including Los Angeles and New York — had sold out. With five weeks to launch, physical channels are tightening up. RockstarINTEL notes that as of October 11, Amazon US had pulled the pre-order listing for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S code-in-a-box copies, and many Target stores in dense US areas — Los Angeles and New York among them — had sold out of in-stock stock.
Worth separating: this may be a supply or allocation hiccup for the code-in-a-box edition rather than an official price change. Rockstar's store page has read "while supplies last" since June, signalling the publisher was always cautious about first-wave physical supply. The digital edition is unaffected and still pre-orderable via PS Store, Xbox Store and the Rockstar Store.
