Review copies reportedly go out by end of October; the review embargo lifts before November 19

Speculated

Per reliable industry insider NateTheHate, review copies will go out by the end of October and the review embargo lifts before the November 19 launch. Context: leaker Cyberleek keeps drip-feeding content, the disc-free release lowers leak risk, and Take-Two's Zelnick stresses pro reviews still matter (Rockstar titles average ~95 on Metacritic).

Overview

With five weeks to launch, the review cadence is coming into focus. Per reliable industry insider NateTheHate, review copies will go out by the end of October and the review embargo lifts before the November 19 launch — so players could read trusted scores and hands-on verdicts ahead of release.

That lines up with an earlier Insider Gaming report (later deleted) saying the review embargo would open before launch day. Caveat: Rockstar has never officially published its review plan, so everything below is reported, not on the record.

Why it matters:

  • The leak cloud still hangs. The notorious leaker Cyberleek keeps drip-feeding GTA 6 content; even if they claim to be done, the review process itself can spoil.
  • No disc means less risk. The game ships without Xbox or PS5 physical discs (the boxed edition is a code), lowering leak exposure versus mailed media.
  • Take-Two still values pro reviews. CEO Strauss Zelnick stressed in May that professional critics matter; he noted Rockstar titles sit around 95 on Metacritic, where scores drive word-of-mouth conversion.
  • A long review window. As currently framed, reviewers get three weeks or more to explore Vice City and beyond; most players expect a 50-hour-plus campaign, and Leonida is larger than any Rockstar open world to date.

Context: Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe previously said Rockstar would fly media to a secure location to minimize leaks — but quarantining critics for a 50-hour game is impractical, so digital review codes are the likelier route.
