GTA 6 devs tried "not to jump on the bandwagon" of passing trends and instead created their "own slanted, overblown versions"

Confirmed

With dev cycles stretching half a decade or more, timely satire risks feeling dated by launch. GTA 6's devs chose not to chase passing trends, instead building their own slanted, overblown versions.

Overview

Creating a timely satire is tough when development takes half a decade or more — the same reason South Park is stuck with its crude art style for literal decades. But the developers of GTA 6 couldn't just replace their world-class tech with paper cutouts. Instead, the team tried to avoid trends that would become outdated by launch, building their own slanted, overblown versions of the world.
